A Book for Every Child
A Book for Every Child is a new outreach initiative from the Friends of the Kirk Bear Canyon Library, created to support literacy and a lifelong love of reading among local elementary school students. Through this program, we partner with elementary schools in our community to ensure that every child receives a brand-new book of their own—to keep, to read, and to treasure.
How the Program Works
Each participating school designates a Point of Contact (POC).
The POC creates a custom book order through Scholastic, tailored to their students.
Books are shipped directly to the school.
The POC places a sticker in each book reading:
“Donated by Friends of the Kirk Bear Canyon Library with funding from Hughes Federal Credit Union.”Books are distributed to students during a school-based event or celebration.
Photos from book distribution events and student celebrations are shared in our newsletter, on our website, and with our funding partners to celebrate the collective impact of this program.
